同学您好！需要首先判断老人老办法，还是新人新办法。如果符合老人老办法，自考本科就可以参加考试的。如果符合新人新办法，自考本科就无法参加考试了（放宽地区可以考取B证或C证）。
您2012年10月开始参加自考，属于老人老办法，不要求法学专业，也不要求学位证书。2018年9月毕业，就可以参加2018年当年的法考，往后的法考也是可以参加的。
“老人老办法”是指：如果2018年4月28日之前入学，就属于“老人”，只要是本科学历就可以考，法本、非法本，全日制（统招），非全日制（自考、成考/函授、电大、网络教育等）都可以报考（必须是本科，专科不行，专科的话需要将学历提升为本科学历才可以报考，下图为司法部官方答复）。
“新人新办法”是指：如果2018年4月28日之后入学，就属于“新人”，那就需要满足下面几种情况才拥有报考资格：
1.本科+全日制+法学专业，也就是根正苗红类，全日制法学类本科；
2.本科+全日制+非法学专业+法硕学位，也就是镀金类，全日制非法本的需要取得法硕以上学位；
3.本科+全日制+非法学专业+三年法律工作经验，也就是实践类，全日制非法本并有相应学历学位，且拥有三年法律工作经验。
4.大专/非全日制本科（自考、成考/函授、电大、网络教育等）+非全日制法硕学历学位，也是可以报名啦！
注：这里提到的大专/非全日制本科（自考、成考/函授、电大、网络教育等）是指2018年4月28日之后入学的，按照“新人新办法”是不具备报考资格的，只要考取非全日制法硕，取得学历学位后，就符合“新人新办法”的法考报名条件啦！
