贺卡是人们在遇到喜庆的日期或事件的时候互相表示问候的一种卡片，人们通常赠送贺卡的日子包括生日、圣诞、元旦、春节、母亲节、父亲节、情人节等日子。

贺卡上一般有一些祝福的话语。如今的纸质贺卡风采已不如当年，这不仅表现在贺卡的销量不断下滑，而且贺卡制作商家也随之减少。过去的纸质贺卡逐渐的被当代更快捷的祝福方式所取代。

贺卡的产生源于人类社交的需要。由于贺卡是沟通人与人之间的情感交往，而此种交往又往往以短句表达，一看亦言简意赅，久而久之，贺语就出现了程式化，讲究喜庆，互送吉语，传达人们对生活的期冀与憧憬今天。

需要提前准备好的材料有：白色厚卡纸、彩纸、剪刀、胶棒、彩铅笔。

1、准备一张白色厚卡纸，作为贺卡的主体，左右对折。

2、五颜六色的彩纸若干张，剪成大小不同的形状做圣诞树。

3、剪上一个褐色长条，作为圣诞树的主干，用胶棒粘在封面上。

4、把彩条从短到长的顺序用胶棒粘好，顶端是一个五角星，圣诞树就做好啦。

5、写上英文祝福“happy new year！”，圣诞贺卡封面就完成了。

6、然后制作贺卡的内部，首先写上英文祝福“happy new year！”，右侧画上写祝福语的横线。

7、写上想说的话，可以是“merry christmas and happy new year!”。

8、底部画上很多雪中的房屋。

9、涂上颜色，英文的新年贺卡就做好了。
