When New Year's Day as changed from March 25 to January 1st in the mid-1560's by King Charles IX, there were some people who still celebrated it on April 1st and those people were called April Fools.

在亚当神话说法中，当年上帝以洪水来毁灭世界，却仅仅留下亚当的第三个儿子的后代诺亚，他以一条人造的大船，就是那艘诺亚方舟，保全了一家大小的生命，在洪水稍退之后，他放出一只白鸽，向探出一条洪水消退之后的陆地，因为正好是4月1号，所以后人认为在这一天做毫无意义的事儿，就好像一只白鸽做了白工一样，行为愚蠢，这便成为愚人节的起源。
